Assistant Commissioner of Victoria Police loved to bash kids

Gary Jamieson according to the bullshit in the Victorian newspapers has had a stellar career. Revered by his peers, he made it all the way to Assistant Commissioner of Police in Victoria. Gary’s career has a lot of parallels with another crooked cop Detective Don Hancock of Perth, Western Australia, the rat who set the Mickleberg’s up and who also shot and killed a bikie in cold blood at Ora Banda. Don Hancock was eventually murdered for being crooked. No such thing has happened to Gary Jamieson, although like Hancock, he was crooked throughout his career, calling himself “Old School”. In other words he would bash suspects and then verbal them, whether they did it or not. Hancock got through his career without much fanfare, none of the allegations against him ever stuck. How Gary Jamieson got through his career without ever being charged I will never know, although I think the fact that a large proportion of Victoria Police are corrupt helped his cause.

It was eventually proved that Hancock did set the Mickleberg’s up and Hancock paid with his life when he got just a little bit too cocky. How is Gary Jamieson going to pay? Well this story for one will make Gary look at himself a little bit harder. Don’t believe your own bullshit Gary, you rose through the ranks of the Victoria Police not because you were an honest copper but because you loved to bash suspects then set them up, especially if you thought they did it.

This is what Gary Jamieson did to me, and today the truth about what you are and what you did will make you pay. Karmah ensures that nobody gets away scot free. You see in the mid seventies nobody had ever heard of the Internet, had police known it was coming they may have been a bit more honest. The internet is a big leveller.

I was 12 years old, I had just started high school. Life had been very hard in my early years, my dad had been killed in a car accident when I was six, at the time I had a brother, Ashley 4 and Martin just nine months old. When dad died, mum had a nervous breakdown and struggled to look after us, she spent some time in Mont Park psychiatric home getting treatment for severe depression. I was sad most of the time as I missed my dad. If Dad had been alive and Gary Jamieson had tried to do what he did to me then things would have been a lot different.

We lived at 74 Francis Street Yarraville having moved there from Bacchus Marsh after dad died. My brother Ashley and I were very close and we always did things together. One day Mum was visiting a friend in Simpson Street, Yarraville, the police station was in Anderson Street which was the  very next street. The two streets were joined by a narrow walking lane which was right beside the house lot we were playing in. Ash had told me that he had found a vacant lot with a heap of sand on it, it also had a bare house frame built on a concrete pad. I was happily building sandcastles in the sandpit and my brother Ashley, unbeknown to me was taking the copper wire out of the house frame, I am buggered if I know how he knew it was valuable but he did. He was only ten years old, but he has grown up having a nose for money. He is of course a wealthy property developer now.

The house lot had no fence around it or any signs, the sandpit I was playing in was on private land but was only a foot off the footpath. As I was busily playing an angry man of about forty approached me, he was short and had a swarthy complexion, it was obvious he was Italian or Croatian or something. He had two lads with im about eighteen years old. He grabbed a handful of my hair and twisted my arm up my back, I screamed at him “what are you doing”? He yelled at me and spit shot out of his mouth all over my face “You little fucking Skippy cunt, I teach you to steal off me, we go to police station”. I struggled and protested that I had done nothing wrong but all to no avail, the two young lads had already made a citizens arrest on my ten year old brother Ashley. We were marched up to the police station and we were belted and abused along the way.

I thought that when we got to tell the police what these people had done to us that they would be in trouble but I was very wrong. I didn’t realise what an ambitious cunt Constable Gary Jamieson  was. His method of interrogation would eventually propel him to Assistant Police Commissioner of Victoria. The complainant told the two police officers that we had both been caught stealing copper wire out of his house. I told Jamieson that I had done nothing and was only playing in the sandpit. He told the complainant to come back later while they dealt with me and my brother, I told Jamieson I wanted my mother but he just sneered and laughed. Once the house owner left Gary Jamieson sat me down in a chair in a sparse office with the only other furniture in it a desk, it was an interview room.

Gary sat on the edge of the desk with a blue clipboard in his hand. He sneered at me and yelled, “right cunt you stole the copper wire right and you are going to sign a statement admitting that you did it”. I told him again that I wanted my mother. Suddenly right out of left field he slammed the edge of the clipboard into my throat cutting of my air supply, it scared the shit out of me, I didn’t even see it coming and didn’t know that police did things like that, I started crying as I was totally stunned. His reaction, he leaned back on the desk and kicked the chair over backwards and I went with it hitting my head on the floor, he then picked me up by the hair, picked the chair up and sat me back on it.  He slapped me hard around the head and face and then I watched, crying and snivelling while he typed out a statement, and of course when he had finished I signed it under threat of violence. Meanwhile Jamieson’s partner was in another room with my ten year old brother bashing him!

I could hear the other copper screaming and yelling at Ashley and I could hear him slapping Ash while he cried and begged to be let go. We were both charged with theft and trespass and then they went and got my mum. When we told Mum what had happened she was furious, she tried to lodge complaints but nobody would listen, in those days the Victoria Police had a free hand to bash people and no questions would ever be asked and they weren’t .

We eventually appeared in Children’s Court in Footscray, when we got to the court there was a boy about my age in the waiting room and he had cuts and bruises all over him, he had stitches in some of the cuts. We asked him and his mother what happened to him and he said that a copper had bashed him and thrown him through a plate glass window, the copper wasn’t in trouble though, they had charged the injured kid with some trivial offence to cover their arses
I was convicted of something I never did in children’s court and from then on all my life the cops would never leave me alone. Gary Jamieson, you were and are corrupt and you got to be assistant Commissioner of Police because you had no fear of bashing people and setting them up.

People who doubt my claim please note Jusice Don Stewart recently stated that the police force was corrupt to the core and it was too big for Police Integrity to handle. He also said the government would not hold a royal commission into corruption in Victoria becasue they were frightened of what they would find.

Also read a book by Simon Illingworth, about a Victorian copper who joined the force only to find endemic corruption throughout. Despite peer pressure to participate he protested and joined internal affairs, only to be hounded out of the force. He was receiving death threats from crooked coppers. I note that

Gary Jamieson's old school police methods did not meet the approval of Police Commisioner Simon Overland, in fact they clashed on the issue and Jamieson had to resign. The old school policing methods are the ones described above, hence Overlands disapproval.

If you don’t like what I have written then sue me for libel, but remember truth is a defence and I will defend it. I am not a twelve year old kid any more.

  1. I'm a victim of NSW police brutality as a juvenile too. Just over 20 years ago I was picked up & assaulted in front of someones house. I was pulled to the ground & was bashed with bare fists to the back of my head even though I was shouting I give up & started to put my hands to cover my head. As soon as it started, I could see from my left a police vehicle pull up out the front yard & cover the assault so that the public across the road could not be witness to my bashing. Next I was taken to Miller police station & was walked in with hand-cuffs behind my back past the front counter then straight to the interview room. I was then shoved up against the wall & kneed; I fell to my knees & again I was kicked in the ribs & punched again around the back of my head. The only good thing was that they were in a demountable & building & the ambos were next door so his copper mates came running up quickly as I started to yell. They stopped him & pulled the dirty coward cop aside. Meanwhile I got myself up off the ground after another officer removed the cuffs & I sat myself down in the corner of the interview room. There I could see spots of blood on the walls from someone elses prior torture & beating. When I was interviewed on tape, it clearly shows that I also wanted to make a written statement, which I was not able to do too. I agreed to write what had happened up but nothing came of it. Otherwise I would have detailed exactly what had happened to me that night. I went to the hospital the next day for x-rays & I told the nurse that I had been beaten up by a cop. Then I went to my local police station & asked to make a statement with their detective, which my dad & I was pulled aside. The front desk constable took us to a small office, flipping through a book which I saw a title about police complaints. He asked about my complaint & denied me access to giving a statement to the detective there. Instead he told us to rethink what we were going to do & only noted it down in his notebook. If I had known about the police ombudsman then I would have definitely gone to them as well.

  2. That is appalling! I am so sorry that you suffered this barbaric behaviour especially at such a young age. Good on you and your brother for surviving this monstrous display of sociopathic insanity. They didn't break your spirit. Well done!

  3. Law enforcement probably will never change ! Few honest cops report corruption as it's known what happens to those that do ! An elderly friend of mine (deceased ) used to tell me of what cops were doing / allowed to get away with in the western suburbs in the 1970's there's nothing more gutless than adults with power bashing kids ! Even now when adults get bashed nothing is done ! The cop is either shifted to another station (move the problem don't fix / deal with it ! Like a certain church ) or they're allowed to quietly resign with a payout ! I've been told by residents in Gippsland that corrupt cops get sent there as a way of drying them out if they've become an embarrassment in Melbourne ! But you can't polish a turd a corrupt cop is beyond help regardless of where they serve ! I have no record and have had trouble with law enforcement for 20 plus years I do all I can to avoid them at all costs ! As for Garry I never liked the look of him I always thought that he was a mongrel !

  4. Jamieson should sue you. But you don't throw good money down the drain trying to get just damages from a penniless criminal
